Wolverine Redesign

Well so much for keeping this under wraps for the big reveal. The results are up at Project: Rooftop for the "Look Sharp" contest and this time . . . I ah, didn't do so well.

Looks like Project: Rooftop's first real upset contest with the majority of the finalists being new faces. Which is great. Yup. Just a mere bag of shells Alice. I had em, and I lost em. Easy come, easy go.

You can read all about my inspirations for this design here, and see the preliminary sketches here. It's a modular costume design. The Sleeves/Hood are attachable to his vest, allowing for multiple looks that are reminiscent of his comic book and movie costumes.

I'm disappointed with the finalists they chose. I'm actually really surprised this wasn't noticed by them. I love the hood. It's got a great biker look to it, and the idea of every thing being detachable is perfect. Very well thought out design. It'll probably show up in the honorable mentions.

I totally dig ur design!
Love ur concept of the jacket being changable. I was working along this line of thought too.
'Thought I'm not such a big fan of Mr Alex Ross's take on Wolverine costume.
I was expecting to see your design been in the top 3...
Its a real pity!!!

Thank you Calvin and Lee. Ya both are sweet.
Hey Lee, get yourself a website of some variety. These contest wins drags tons of traffic to a website. I want to see more of your excellent work, and so does the rest of the world. truth.

Been thinking of getting an online portfolio for the looonngggest time.
Either been always busy with work and personal stuff OR too tired to get it up... playing the blame game once again. hahaha
Keep your fingers cross till end of the year.

Cool design! Love the jacket especially, that X-shape is subtle but really cool looking. The modular nature is exceedingly clever. This is probably the best real-world-workable design I've seen.

Hey Chis, thanks for looking. It feels nice to be missed.
I shall not be deterred. You guys throw up a new contest,
I'll hit you back with a new design.

You don't have to wait for a contest. We're always looking for cool redesigns of characters. Look at our earlier posts for those. Stuart Immonen did a great Black Widow, and Jamie McKelvie did a great Wonder Woman.

True that Chris. Check your archives for the Miracleman submission I sent you guys a year ago. And if you like that I have a wicked Wolverine redesign as well. ;)
